Kerstin Forsberg is Founder and Director of Planeta Océano, a Peruvian non-profit organization empowering coastal communities in marine conservation through research, education, policy and sustainable development efforts. She is Board Member of the non-profit Migramar and has served as a consultant for the private, governmental, and inter-governmental sectors, including UNESCO and the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission. Her work has included promoting research and legal protection for giant manta rays and critically endangered sawfish, the consolidation of a Marine Educator’s Network in Peru, among others.
As a public speaker, Forsberg has presented in over 16 countries, in venues including the Royal Geographic Society and the World Economic Forum. Forsberg was recently named as one of Fortune Magazine’s ’50 World’s Greatest Leaders’. She has been named a ‘Next Generation Leader’ by TIME and a ’30 Under 30 Social Entrepreneur’ by Forbes Magazine; and her work has been featured in the French documentary ‘Kerstin and the Giant Manta Rays’. She’s a Rolex Award for Enterprise Laureate, Whitley Award (‘Green Oscars’) Winner, a World Economic Forum Young Global Leader, an Ashoka Fellow and a member of Friends of Ocean Action.
